South island: Nelson

I will divide this in every town I visited and upload pictures and give descriptions underneath (instead of write long texts). Sweet, here we go!

My route thru south island. Start in Nelson and end also there.
People I was here with first time: Sarah, Saskia and Lina.
- second time: Nicole

Nelson is a lovely small town of characteristic features. Too bad I have no good pictures of that.

River across the town. There was also a cute little swedish cafe (no picture..)
Lina and I noticed that we have same taste of cameras. Nikon and Go Pro!

Big and adorable market with things and food on every Saturday. Visited it both times I was there.

On our way to Fox Glacier

Same here. This is how most of south island looked like. Big mountains with rivers and forest around

West coast

Stopped by Pancake rocks (Rocks who look like pancakes in piles). Can you also se a man face in this picture?

Sarah eats the pancakes. he he.

Second time we visited Nelson and Nicole and I stayed at this lovely dutch couple's house! Friends of my host parents and I appreciate their kindness so much. Thanks both of you

The gorgeous view from their house over mountains and the sea at evening.

We were invited for lunch at this old house as now is a beautiful restaurant.

Tea and scones with jam and cream. Yummy!

South island: Fox Glacier

People I was here with: Sarah, Saskia and Lina
After 8 hrs busdrive from Nelson and we finally arrived in beautiful Fox Glacier high up in mountains.

Lina and I on our way to "The Mirror lake", while the two other girls did skydive.

Lake Matheson; real name of The Mirror lake

Here is the answer of that nickname. Unbelievable stunning, was like a postcard in front of us.

A growing fern. (The fern over here is tall as trees and it's a symbol of New Zealand)

Isn't she gorgeous?! haha my wonderful Lina

"Mirror mirror on the lake, who is the fairest of them all?..."

Well it's hard to smile on every picture

Lunch view

Lina and I are ready to walk on the glacier (in lots of rain!!)
It's a melting glacier, which made us walk about 15 min until we could reach it.

Following the guide

Nice glacier-exploring-outfit

Check on the bucket list: lick on a glacier.

Most amazing thing, we were abel to crawl under and see this magnificent cave!

The cave got lighten up from the outside thru the ice

On our way to Queenstown!

My masterpiece at Sarah

Thing for backpackers to do? Put rocks in a pile...

Such a cute town. Loved it

Sarah and I did the Queenstown hill

New Zealand's best burger they said, and yes it was massive and very delicious!

It's not tea or coffee in this...
